Dave Mattea joins Ashley Furniture HomeStores

Ashley furniture HomeStores has hired Dave Mattea as vice president visual, a new position, with responsibility for visual merchandising for the Top 100 dedicated store network.

Mattea has worked in the industry for more than 30 years at positions including sales consultant, store manager and regional store/visual merchandising director. At the former Wheeling, Ill.-based Wickes furniture, he rose to national visual merchandising director.

He reports to Ashley furniture HomeStores President John Disa - also formerly of Wickes - who said Mattea brings "a wealth of successful visual merchandising expertise as well as strong leadership experience to the retail management team."

The HomeStores network had 390 stores at the end of 2008 and total revenues last year of about $2.1 billion, according to furniture/Today estimates.
