The Ontario Fire Marshal is investigating a blaze that destroyed a Mississauga furniture store.
About 50 firefighters were called to douse the two-alarm blaze at Arthome Furniture on Dundas St. E., near Dixie Rd., at about 4:45 p.m.
Dundas was closed from Dixie Rd. to Wharton Way for about four hours as crews battled the stubborn fire, which shot thick clouds of smoke over the city.
Part of the west wall and the roof collapsed and other parts of the building were also severely damaged, Platoon chief Larry MacPhail.
In total, the fire caused about $1 million in damage to both the building and furniture, and other items inside.
Police have deemed the fire suspicious, and detectives are helping the Fire Marshal investigate. They will determine exactly what started the fire and whether or not it was deliberately set.
